SOME PROBLEMS OF PIPELINE TRANSPORT OIL AND OIL PRODUCTS
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Hamzayev/Hamzayev_1.pdf (in Russian)

Work is devoted to research of some questions of pipeline transport of oil and oil products. In the first part of work the problem of a choice of an operating mode of the pump station located on the set site of the pipeline is considered, and in the second part the problem of detection of outflow of oil and oil products in pipelines is investigated.
For the mathematical description of problems the one-dimensional mathematical model of stationary movement of a viscous liquid on the pipeline is used. Thus pressure and the mass charge of a liquid in initial and final sections of the pipeline are considered set. The analytical method of the decision of tasks in view is offered and obvious formulas for definition of an operating mode of pump station, the mass charge on outflow and places of outflow in the pipeline are received.

USAGE METHANOL IN THE GAS INDUSTRY AS AN INHIBITOR OF HYDRATE FORMATION AND FORECAST OF ITS CONSUMPTION IN THE PERIOD UNTIL 2030
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Grunvald/Grunvald_1.pdf (in Russian)

In operating procedures such as upstream, gas treatment and transfer, hard gas hydrates lead to serious problems based on the processes abnormality.
Traditional and main method of hydrate formation prevention in gas industry is usage of hydrate inhibitor - methanol.
Specific dispensable rates of methanol consumption as an inhibitor of hydrate formation depend directly on the composition of the extracted natural gas and also technology of preparing the natural gas to the transportation. The article contains the detailed examination of this dependence and also the forecast of methanol consumption in the gas industry in the period until 2030.

INTERACTION OF MULTILEVEL MODELS DURING OPTIMIZATION OF OPERATING CONDITIONS OF A NETWORKED INTERFIELD GATHERING LINE
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Semukhin/Semukhin_2.pdf (in Russian)

The throughput optimization or output pressure maximization algorithm includes three-level characterization models: i.e. original characterization in a form of a system of nonlinear algebraic equations; linearized characterization vs. unknown costs and pressure squares; and solution of a linear programming task at each step of iteration. Given that a gathering line structure is complex and large, the 4th level of characterization in a form of "black box" model with a sensitivity function may be introduced before running linear programming.

CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF PIPELINE PROJECTS IN PAKISTAN - ASSOCIATED RISKS AND THEIR SOLUTION
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Mubin/Mubin_1.pdf

Looking its high energy demand, Pakistan is planning to import natural gas through pipelines from neighboring countries. For fully utilizing the imported gas, providing it to end customers, the infrastructure of gas pipeline is being developed. Therefore a huge investment is being carried out in this sector. During the last 10 years the network of main and distribution gas pipeline has been expanded by 85%. But the geological and geographical conditions of Pakistan are tough for the construction. On one side there are glaciers and high mountains, on the other side there is desert and plan of river Indus with extensive network of wide rivers and canals. There is always risk of earthquake, landslides and floods. Instable Government policies, high rate of inflation, rapid change in material prices are also important risk factors. Looking the current geopolitics situation there is a persistent threat of war and terrorism in the country. All these factors make the situation very complex in quantifying the risk factors especially when the project is gas pipeline in which the impact factor of risk exponentially rise in case of risk occurrence. Moreover, due to the absence of modern project or risk management techniques and methodologies the projects are usually not completed in their planned time or budget. Effort has been made to quantify the associated risks of gas pipeline project on the basis of historical data. The research will be helpful to separate the most important risks from the trivial many for the construction of any sort of pipeline project in the northern areas of Pakistan.

THE SYSTEM ANALYSIS IN TASKS AIMED AT MINIMIZATION OF GEOECOLOGICAL RISKS AT COMPLEX GAS MAIN PIPELINES
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Kazak/Kazak_1e.pdf
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Kazak/Kazak_1.pdf (in Russian)

The methodology of application of the system analysis and the relevant mathematical models for optimization of gas flows in complex gas transportation systems (GTS) are considered taking into account the gas pipelines emissions' environmental impact. The proposed approach allows the researcher to estimate the level of geoecological risks at separate sections of pipelines and rank the GTS subsystems by this index. In turn, it permits to single out the pipeline sections sets, where the management solutions and measure have to be undertaken in order to decrease the level of geoecological risks. The stage of the system synthesis envisages the possibility of the geoecological risk assessment during operation of the whole system.

DETECTION SYSTEM OF ILLEGAL PENETRATION INTO A PIPELINE
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Latyshev/Latyshev_1.pdf (in Russian)

The aim of this work is the development of a detection system of illegal penetration into a pipeline, which is included in existing pipeline telecontrol system. Comparative analysis of existing methods of leak detection was done. And it showed that these methods are not efficient for detection of illegal penetration, because they are short time and have a small volume of leak. In this case, application of method, described in this work, is a rather efficient. This method is based on measuring and analysis of acoustic waves in pipeline metal, which arise during the attempt of penetration. The structure of measuring devices for realization of this method was selected with the help of the invariation theory in measuring technics. Application of this theory allows to eliminate the dependence of measuring result on extraneous factors. Using the multichannel principle - the main principle of the invariation theory - proportions for determination of approximate place of penetration by a chosen structure of measuring device were found. Besides, the algorithms and the programs were created for realization of this method.

CLASSIFICATION OF OIL-AND-GAS PIPELINE SECTORS EXPOSED TO ELECTROCHEMICAL CORROSION WHEN EXPLOITED
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Valyushok/Valyushok_1.pdf (in Russian)

The oil-and-gas pipeline classification existing in industrial protection sphere is based on the unit danger class, which is dependent on such factors as the transported product type, the pipeline diameter and its working pressure, its remoteness from the nearest settlement and also the pipeline construction and laying conditions.
Long distance underground pipeline failure statistics show that every third failure is caused by electrochemical corrosion the influence of which is underestimated when the potential danger of the unit is defined. In connection with this the authors put forward a complex approach to the definition of the pipeline sectors danger that takes into consideration the main factors decreasing the underground oil-and-gas pipeline exploitation safety.

THE MAIN REASONS OF ORIGIN OF ISOLATING COATINGS DEFECTS
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Harisov/Harisov_2.pdf (in Russian)

In the article analysis of the basic reasons of origin of isolating coatings defects is carried out. The main reasons are:
- application of poor-quality or inappropriate isolating materials;
- poor-quality drawing of primer onto a pipeline;
- defects arising at drawing of polymeric isolating tapes;
- defects arising at isolating and stringing works and backfilling of a pipeline;
- mechanical influences of ground during operation resulting in shearing or stretching stresses in isolating coatings, followed by stress cracking and formation of corrugations, scorings, scratches and flutes;
- physicochemical influence of ground, influence of surface active components of ground colloidal environment resulting in evaporation and washing away of plasticizing agents from isolating coatings;
- misuse of a pipeline (sharp temperature difference of product transported, pumping of a product with temperature above the designed one, etc.);
- poor quality of electrochemical protection measures (the potential difference "pipe - ground" is higher or lower than the admitted one, etc.);
- non-adherence to the modes of isolating materials drawing in winter conditions - disturbance of the modes of pipeline preheating, primer drawing, isolating coatings drawing and storage;
- freezing of pipeline isolating coating together with water saturated ground.

GAS CONGESTION INFLUENCE ON PIPELINE SYSTEM CURVE
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Kutukov/Kutukov_7e.pdf

Gas-air congestion is one of the typical operational mode deviations in pumping of oil and petroleum, which reduces the pipeline system capacity on an average 30:60%. The development of measures for pipeline capacity support on designed level is faced up a crucial problem of parametric diagnostic system for hilly terrain pipelines.
The qualitative and quantitative estimation methodology of possible capacity reduction for a pipeline section with gas congestion is suggested. Monitoring of pressure distribution along pipeline length allows revealing and observing their accumulation and migration in time.

IMPULSE TEMPERATURE INFLUENCE ON STRESS-CORROSION CRACKING OF BIG-DIAMETER GAS MAINS
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Garris/gar_e.pdf

After solving the inverse task of heat conductivity on the basis of processed temperature fields of the initial part of 1420 mm gas pipeline Polyana-Moskovo the results were obtained that establish the fact of heat conductivity and ground humidity change not only along the pipe contour but in the course of time as well. During continuous observations impulse humidity change (1,5…2 times and more) in the zone of pipeline outer surface contact with the ground was fixed synchronous to the temperature change of the gas flow.
Based on the researches made it is possible to conclude that impulse change of pipe wall temperature causes synchronous change of the adjoining ground temperature and humidity. This fact may be regarded as the impellent that activates electrochemical corrosion and bio-corrosion. This phenomenon reveals itself in discrete stress cracking of metal and in the direction of maximum development of stress.

SIMULATION METHOD OF PIPELINE SECTIONS RANKING BY ENVIRONMENMTAL HAZARD DUE TO OIL DAMAGE SPILL
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Nabiev/simulation.pdf

Geoinformation modelling serves as a methodological basis for development of means for prognosis of environmental and social consequences of accidents at trunk pipelines. One of numerous aspects of this problem is fragmentation of a pipeline into linear objects by environmental characteristics including technical state and probable environmental and social consequences of an accident. Rational planning of the pipeline linear section overhauls, declaration of industrial and environmental safety, development of valid standards for the pump station emergency service and other aspects depend on the correct solution of these problems. When making management decisions under the conditions of uncertainty or limited initial information a comparative assessment (ranks) of probable accident consequences at these pipeline sections should become an effective means for determining the required reliability level of a trunk pipeline section.

THE ESTIMATION OF TECHNICAL STATE OF MARINE PIPELINES
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Gumerov/estimation.pdf

Procedures of calculation of stress-deformation state of the most hazardous submarine pipeline sections are considered, an example of the calculation is given.
In the oil fields under development in the shelf of Vietnam marine pipelines for offshore pumping of high- solidification oils, gas-liquid mixtures, gas and water to maintain formation pressure are in operation. The constructive design of pipelines is performed without sea bottom penetration.
As is shown by the world practice, the main causes of failures of such pipelines in operation can be damage from ship anchors, internal and external corrosion of pipes, excessive bends in vertical and horizontal planes, wear of pipelines at the intersection points, damage resulting from metal fatigue caused by waves, currents, changes in pressure and temperature of a product being pumped, bottom deformation and sagging of pipelines, damage caused by construction work in the immediate proximity to pipelines.
To ensure reliable and trouble-free operation of marine pipelines and to make a timely decision regarding time and type of repair one should possess true information about technical condition of these pipelines. In case of impossibility of using traditional methods of checking required parameters, applied for pipelines laid on the ground, it becomes necessary to develop and to update the procedures of obtaining such parameters by theoretical methods.

PRESSURE LOSS CALCULATION MODEL FOR WELL-GRADED SOLID-LIQUID PIPE FLOWS ON THE BASIS OF SYSTEMATIC PILOT PLANT INVESTIGATIONS
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Faitli/pressureloss.pdf

If a well granulated bulk solid material is separated into narrow particle fractions by size and the pressure loss curve of each fraction is measured in a given pipe a limit particle size can be determined.
The flow of the smaller fractions and the water can be described as a continuum with own suspension density and rheological properties. This is called fine suspension flow. The pressure loss curve of the coarse fractions and water flow has a minimum point, the continuum model is hard to be applied. This is called coarse mixture flow. In a given pipe only the particle size determines whether the flow is fine suspension or coarse mixture. In case of a coarse mixture flow the particles can be suspended or settled as function of the actual flow rate. When the coarse particles are suspended, this is the case of the many empirical equations, of which the first one was proposed by Durand. Mechanical friction loss of the settled and sliding particles can be correlated by the two-layer model.
On the basis of this point of view a pressure loss calculation method has been developed. The material parameters in the model can be measured by a systematic test by a tube viscometer. A hydraulic test loop and a tube viscometer with three different pipes have been built and experiments were carried out by glass sand from Fehérvárcsúrgó and fly-ash from the Power Plant of Mátra, both located in Hungary.

A NEW MODEL FOR BLOW-OFF OF A GAS PIPELINE
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Bodi/newmodel.pdf

The authors worked out a calculation process and software for calculating the working conditions of blow-off systems at technological stations of gas pipelines. One part of the examined system is the closed gas pipeline section, the other is the blow-off pipe provided with a control valve. To create the model they analysed the blow-off process, on the basis of which the simplifying assumptions were determined. The calculation model gives non- steady values of pressure, temperature and the gas flow at chosen points of the system. In the second part of the article the authors present the application of the calculation algorithm with the help of examples for all the three control options. On the basis of the results the changes in the blow-off gas flow and after all the venting time can be seen for each control method,. The elaborate calculation process and software can be used either to plan new flare systems or to analyse the working conditions of existing systems.
